Qualcomm has announced its new SoC Snapdragon Wear 1100 for wearables devices in Computex 2016. The Snapdragon Wear 1100 is focused on wearables as these smart watches, bracelets of activity and other accessories wearables that you need a chip with some special characteristics.
Already in February, Qualcomm announced this special chip for wearables with his Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear, a new platform for the next generation of wearables, and Snapdragon Wear 2100 system.
The Snapdragon Wear 1100 is characterized by a processor for Linux-based applications and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and voice services. Incorporates integrated localization engine lifting Qualcomm to offer improved energy optimization such as features to which we know from multi-GNSS positioning cell – ID and ability to support applications that uses geo-fencin to a monitored safe.
Qualcom says that the Snapdragon Wear 1100 is designed for the next generation of wearables where consumers are demanding a smaller size, longer lasting battery, sensors more smarts, safe location, and an always-connected experience.
Other features are the ability to consume less energy thanks to the Power Save Mode (PSM) and the modem’s next-generation Cat 1 bands global LTE / 3 G. The SoC also integrates motor generator, cryptographic RNG HW and TrustZone.
This chip Snapdragon Wear 1100 is available commercially and is assumed that it will offer us soon otherwise wearables with Android Wear with an improved battery.
